Breathe New Life Into Old Speakers With New Foam

Breathe New Life Into Old Speakers With New Foam

Whether you have an old pair of speakers sitting around, or you’ve scored a sweet set of vintage speakers, chances are they need a little love before you can get the most out of them. In a lot of old speakers, the foam lining is the first to go, which is why Instructables user andrea biffi shows you how to re-foam them.

In old speakers, the foam lining will crack open, and that means the speaker doesn’t emit that much sound. You can fix this with foam or plastic. The process requires you to cut your speaker apart and do some gluing, but if it’s already destroyed you don’t have anything to lose. You should be able to turn that cheap pair of busted speakers into a kickass sounding system on the cheap in an afternoon.
