Artery Alert: Pizza Hut Is Working On A Range Of Burgers

If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em! Pizza Hut is gearing up to launch a range of burgers which will apparently have a pizza-style twist. We’re already sharpening the official Takeaway Truth knife in anticipation.

Pizza Hut is currently running a Seek advertisement looking for a ‘Burger Expert’ to taste-test a new range of menu items. That’s right: in an apparent bid to take on McDonald’s, the pizza chain is looking to get into the burger game.

Interestingly, the ad stipulates that the successful applicant must love burgers and pizza, which suggests some kind of unholy union could be on the cards. Will the buns be made from giant slabs of pepperoni? Will tomato paste be used in lieu of ketchup? Will the cheese be designed to burn your lip on the first bite? At the moment, your guess is as good as mine.

The successful applicant must be Sydney based and will be paid a cool $2000 for their week of service along with a month’s supply of Pizza Hut pizza. You also need to be “be super-friendly, out-going, and happy to become famous” — you need to be a corporate shill for the company, in other words. You’ll also need to eat a bunch of Pizza Hut burgers, which could be a dangerous career move. You can find out more here.

This isn’t the first time a fast food chain has dabbled in the cuisine of a rival: McDonald’s made a big chicken push several years ago, Domino’s now offers hot chips and KFC just released its own nachos range. Just stick to what you’re good at, guys.
