Dealhacker: Free PS3 With Phones From Optus

A PlayStation 3 console on its own routinely costs $400 or more, so getting one for free with a contract phone could be a good deal. Optus' online store is offering a free PS3 with three contract handsets.

I can't seriously imagine any Lifehacker readers wanting the Nokia X3-O2 and its wimpy 200MB a month plan, but the Galaxy Ace (total cost $1176) or the HTC Incredible S (total cost $1896) might be more tempting. Note that you will be tied to a 24-month contract, and the deal is online-only.

Perhaps you should check your prices? AFAIK PS3 consoles on their own cost nowhere near $400?

A few people on ozbargain crunched the numbers, and they did not come up in favour of this 'deal'.

If there was any lingering question if marketing worked...

is it worth keeping my current phone, selling the ps3 and going on the $29 cap for 24months or just BYO to the $19 (same value as $29) for 12 months???

I make $60 -$80 a month worth of calls, so it is enough
