Our friend headwhop26 found himself inspired by one of our featured workspaces and wanted to build a desktop that reminded him of it. The result is a wood-panelled wallpaper with a handful of useful widgets in the centre that show off the time and date, show you drive information, and control system power. If you want the same look for your Windows PC, here’s what you’ll need:
- The Wood Wallpaper Pack by Oliuss from DeviantArt
- ObjectDock from Stardock for the application dock at the top of the screen
- The Suave icon pack for ObjectDock
- Rainmeter, a system monitor and customisation utility for Windows
- The Thumby calendar for Rainmeter
- SocialLauncher by TwistLemon from DeviantArt
If you need help getting all of the components to look just right, head over to our tutorial on setting up Rainmeter to get started, or ping headwhop26 on his Flickr page.
If you have a Mac or are running Linux, you can approximate some of the same effects using GeekTool or Conky, respectively.
