Our friend headwhop26 found himself inspired by one of our featured workspaces and wanted to build a desktop that reminded him of it. The result is a wood-panelled wallpaper with a handful of useful widgets in the centre that show off the time and date, show you drive information, and control system power.If you want the same look for your Windows PC, here’s what you’ll need:

If you need help getting all of the components to look just right, head over to our tutorial on setting up Rainmeter to get started, or ping headwhop26 on his Flickr page.

If you have a Mac or are running Linux, you can approximate some of the same effects using GeekTool or Conky, respectively.

  • ahh… damn, that’s lovely! Beautiful little displays.

    I so often wish for something as easy-to-use as Rainmeter for OSX (yes I know of Geektool but I find it very confusing)
