DIY Hanging Desk Increases Floor Space

If you’re a little short on floor space (say if you live in a dorm, or have a particularly small office), you can help open up the room a bit by hanging your desk instead of standing it on the ground.Weblog College Info Geek takes the “dorm loft” philosophy to the extreme, lifting not only the bed off the floor, but the desk. With no legs or supports on the ground, you have a lot more room on the floor for storage (or just plain moving around). After gathering your supplies — like a board for the desk, some long sections of chain, and some hooks — it should only take you 15 minutes or so to build.

Obviously, this only works if you have something to hang the desk from, but it’s perfect for a loft-equipped dorm room. I’d be a little skeptical about mounting my entire desktop computer on the hanging desk, but for a simple laptop or some books, it’ll probably serve you pretty well.
