Android: Tasker can handle a lot of complicated automation. If you’re looking for something a little more targeted, Location Reminder can send customised notifications based on your location using some of the fancy new geofencing techniques recently added to Google Play Services.
In addition to basic location-based reminders like “Remind me to get milk when I go to the store” (made redundant by Google Now on most phones anyway), it can do more elaborate tasks like texting your family when you’ve landed in a new city or messaging your friend when you’re within a mile of his house. Using geofences, locations can range from 300m to 32.2km, which gives you plenty of wiggle room for the kind of automation that can be much harder in more fully-featured programs.
