Google has bumped up the attachment size limit for emails that you receive from 25MB to 50MB. However, the sending size limit for Gmail has not changed. Here’s what you need to know.
The previous total attachment size limit for incoming and outgoing emails was 25MB. Now the incoming attachment size limit has increased to 50MB. However, Google has kept the outgoing email attachment size limit at 25MB. If you try to send more than 25MB worth of attachments in one go, you will be prompted to upload files to Google Drive and share them through the cloud storage service instead.
Google expects to complete a full rollout of this feature in the next three days.

This seems to only talk about G-Suite; it doesn’t mention normal Gmail accounts.
I’m curious if you can send a 50MB attachment using Google’s SMTP relay.
Hi askvictor,
Thanks for the comment. Some updates announced on the G-Suite blog apply broadly to the free services. For example, last month it was announced on the blog that .js attachments would be blocked by Gmail and that change was applied to the free Gmail service as well. (I have no idea why they don’t just annouce this stuff on the main Gmail blog :S)
I’m afraid I don’t have the answer to the second part of your question!
Hope that helps!
