iPad: Wikipedia is a fantastic resource for information about anything, but it doesn’t win any design points. das Referenz is a new iPad app that beautifies the world’s favourite publicly-edited encyclopedia.
The app makes Wikipedia more readable with better fonts, its parchment paper-style design, and a nice image layout. When you search for any item, its results come with a small summary, thumbnailed image, and related items. You can also navigate through an article faster using its index, accessible with a couple of taps. das Referenz also integrates with Wikidata for added information not available in the default Wikipedia app.
There’s an old-world charm to das Referenz that makes it the go-to choice as a Wikipedia reader on the iPad.
