The Tucked Away Home Screen

We recently introduced you to a new launcher called Sweeterhome, and reader Casey Brooks shows us another awesome setup using the minimal but functional tabbed launcher.

Casey really likes that Sweeterhome allows all of your apps to be tucked away on separate screens, leaving your home screen clutter-free:

After seeing the tabbed homescreen by dandylion, I decided to give it a go with the Sweeterhome launcher. It is based off the theme “Simple” by atodd0506, found in-app. I took the main idea of the theme of boxes on the bottom opening everything needed, and went crazy. The idea was to have a homescreen with almost nothing cluttering the background, while being very highly grouped and organised so that literally anything can be found with just a few simple clicks.

With none of the boxes open, as shown in the top half, the screen is nearly empty. When you select one of the boxes, it opens either a drawer that holds apps, or else it opens several other boxes on the top which have various widgets and helpful displays, all highly grouped and organised for ease of location (see the image at the top for the empty version of the home screen, and the image to the right for what it looks like when you open up the different sections).

The only widgets being used are Beautiful Widgets, including a battery monitor, aeroplane mode toggle, brightness toggle, and weather (hidden in the “Monitoring” tab of the left side), YouVersion for the daily Bible verse and Google Music Widget (shown) in the “Media” tab, and Evernote (hidden in the “Productivity” tab). The Sweeterhome Launcher itself provides an events list under the “Productivity” tab, and a contacts list and recent calls/texts list in the middle screen.

The background is a fractal from my own personal gallery, all of which can be found and used freely for personal use on my DeviantArt page.
