Vodafone’s online store is offering either the Samsung Galaxy S II and the HTC Sensation XL with a handset charge of $5 a month (down from $10) on its $29, 24-month cap plan (total minimum cost $816). Not the newest phone or the swishest plan, but a good saving if you want a low-cost Android deal and don’t mind the contract. [Vodafone]

ummm…
the 29$ plan has 200MB of data…FOR A SMART PHONE? They must really expect user to buy addon packs as well.
Admittedly, its vodaphone network so even if it came with 5GB of data you wouldn’t be able to use it.

Existing customers (at the end of their contract) should be able to get either of these phones on the $29 plan for 24 months with no extra handset repayments + a data back thrown in for free (700mb is easiest to get, but you might get lucky and get the 2gb one). Don’t forget you can also get 10% off if you’re adding a 2nd service to an existing account.
New customers should take advantage of any SYCS (motor club e.g. RACQ) to take 10% off. If you’re lucky you can do this over the phone and get the handset repayments reduced too.

Maybe, it could also be because they have lost so many customers during the great Vodafone debacle

The deal might be attractive, but I just couldn’t bring myself to go with Voda. I know too many people who complain about the poor state of Voda’s network, even after the so-called “improvements”.
