The History Podcasts Map is a world map with markers for podcasts (and podcast episodes) that discuss certain cities, states, countries, and regions. While it’s far from exhaustive, it’s a great starting point if you want to learn about a particular place.
Listening to a local history podcast is a great way to prepare for a trip, or to entertain yourself in planes trains and automobiles during the trip. It’s a good way to learn about the places you live and work in, or the place you grew up. For many locations, you can find podcasts about specific eras, districts, or aspects of life.
For example, English history podcasts include the Renaissance shows Tudor, I Hardly Know Her and Rude Tudors, Victorian show Age of Victoria, royalty shows like Rex Factor and Queens of England, social history shows Gallus Girls and Wayward Women and The History of English and British Empire show Pax Britannica.
There are shows about Bristol and London, and a show specifically about the history of psychiatry in Britain.
