Elevator Pitch: Easy Bill Pay

Elevator Pitch is a regular feature on Lifehacker where we profile startups and new companies and pick their brains for entrepreneurial advice. This week, we’re talking with Deborah Southon, director at FSA Group/Easy Bill Pay.

In 128 words or less, explain your business idea

Easy Bill Pay was designed around real customer experience. Over the past 18 years thousands of people have contacted FSA for help because they received a late notice, had received an expected bill or were continually paying late fees and they were stressed. Many of these people were time poor, disorganised, forgetful and in some case, just lazy. It was clear that there was a need for a service which could take care of this and that is why we develop d Easy Bill Pay.

This makes it different from other bill payment services. It is not just a payment service it allows the user to manage their finances and ensures bills are paid and on time. Plus, it is easy to use

What strategies are you using to grow and finance your idea?

We know the potential of Easy Bill Pay and now we want to make it better and even more useful and valuable, so we are building a mobile app and a payment gateway. We want EBP to be more than just a bill payment/bill storage system. We want it to be a mobile wallet as well. It must meet the everyday needs of users.

Currently we are self-funding although we have had talks with some interested parties.

How do you differentiate your business from your competitors?

We built EBP for us and for all those people who over the past 18 years contacted us because they couldn’t or didn’t manage their bills efficiently or on time. We all have busy lives – we work, have friends, family, relationships, children, we travel and run households. Often things get over looked and bills falls into this category.

We knew paying bills was a real problem for many people

Easy Bill Pay Team; “We fell into this category, we lost track of all the late fees we paid and even received a couple of disconnection notices. This is stressful”. We knew many other people fell into this category, so we thought “what can we do to make this simple but tedious and necessary task easy”. This was the genesis of EBP. It was created to meet our needs and to help all those people we have spoken with over the past 18 years.

What’s the biggest challenge facing your business?

Easy Bill Pay is a great service and we know it. We use it and it makes my our lives so much easier. Now we must convince others to use it and this is our greatest challenge.

What one phone, tablet or PC application could you not live without?

Phone. Our lives are on our phone.

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received?

It is the simple ideas that make everyday life easier which are most succe
