Searing a steak is a delicate process and has various methods to choose from. To see which ways are best, Tested’s Adam Savage teamed up with Serious Eats’ J Kenji López-Alt to test a variety of methods.
There are a lot of things that go into searing a steak, including drying it out first, temperature and how you treat the steak to start. As far as searing methods go, Adam Savage and J. Kenji López-Alt test out a variety of outdoor methods, including a searzall, grilling on the grill, a chimney and a homemade aluminium forge.
