eWAY Creates Apple Watch App For Merchants

Payments service provider, eWAY, has released an app for the Apple Watch that allows merchants to accept payments through the wearable device. The app is compatible with eWAY’s existing mobile payments platform and point-of-sale hardware.

For sellers that operate on a smaller scale, the app helps them take payments quickly and discreetly from customers. The limitation is that they can only process small payments of predefined amounts. Nonetheless, the app could be particularly helpful for merchants who set up pop-up stores and don’t have room for a cumbersome payment point of sale units. The app can pair with eWAY’s smartPOS device to process credit card payments on the go. Receipts can be emailed to customers through the app.

The eWAY Apple Watch app also works with the company’s mobile app and platform which is connected to other merchant tools including shopping carts, accounting software and sales platforms. This means a merchant’s inventory can be updated in real-time after a purchase is processed through the Apple Watch app.

eWAY has over 20,000 businesses using its payments platform and processes one quarter of all online spend in Australia.
