Updates For System Center 2012 SP1 And Other Microsoft Server Products

A stack of Microsoft server products were updated late last week (while Lifehacker was busy taking notes at the Microsoft Management Summit rather than checking update blogs). Here’s the skinny on what has changed in System Center 2012 SP1 and other network management tools.

  • System Center 2012 SP1 received Update Rollout 2, which patches App Controller, Operations Manager, Data Protection Manager, Orchestrator and Service Manager. Definitely worth installing if you’re using System Center.
  • The Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack 2013 for Software Assurance customers was released. The update includes enhanced tools for managing BitLocker encryption in large environments.
  • A preview release of the Management Pack for Windows Azure, which lets you track availability of Azure resources used by applications, was released. This is a currently an experimental release, and Microsoft doesn’t recommend using it in production environments.
