Learn About The Windows 8 Consumer Preview For Free Over At Lynda

Lynda.com is one of our favourite video-based online learning sites, and for the next couple of weeks they're offering up a free lesson on Windows 8. We've walked you through the new stuff in Windows 8, but if you're looking for an in-depth guide to the consumer preview, here it is, free of charge.

The lesson goes over pretty much everything you'll need to know to get a handle on what's new. This includes things like going through the installation process on your machine, whether it's physical or virtual, using the new boot menu, getting the hang of metro apps, customising the start screen and changing settings. It'll also help you figure out where to go next. The lesson is only a little over an hour long, so it won't take you long to get acquainted. It's only free for a few weeks, so if you're not a Lynda subscriber, you should check it out now.

I am pretty sure my brain just fell out of my mouth because my jaw fell so far open.
MICROSOFT. STOP TRYING TO MAKE AN IPAD OPERATING SYSTEM!
Everything looks so cumbersome to use. How do I switch apps. Do I just click on it in the task bar? Well no, there isn't a task bar. I have to move my mouse to the top of the screen and drag down. Or does that only work for Metro apps. Is the only way I can switch desktop apps by alt-tabbing through all the windows I have open.
As someone who would never use an app that requires fullscreen and only fullscreen, the fact that metro is so engrained into it.....egghhghghghghhh
