Morning Routine For Android Forces You To Wake Up And Scan A Barcode

Android: We've shared lots of Android alarm clock apps here before, but Morning Routine takes a fresh new approach to forcing yourself awake. When the alarm goes off, you have to scan a barcode — like, the one on your carton of orange juice in the fridge — in order to turn it off.

Lots of alarm clocks try to find clever ways to get you out of bed in order to turn them off, in hopes that once you're up, you'll be awake enough to actually get on with your day. What's nice about Morning Routine is that you can make it take you anywhere in the house. I probably wouldn't be convinced to get up by an alarm clock at the other end of the room — I'd just plop back into bed. But forcing me to get up, open my fridge, and take out the orange juice? That's probably enough motivation to get me eating breakfast and start my day. You can even set it to open a link when you turn off the alarm, or make you scan a series of barcodes — like the orange juice carton, your cereal box and your toothpaste — to force you into a morning routine. Check out the video above to see a (humorous) demonstration.

Morning Routine is a free download for Android devices.

You could just reach into your bedside drawer and scan the side of that box of dingers, back of the book you're reading, tissue box, or any one of a dozen items you keep near you in bed, rather than in the fridge...

Thing about all or any of these apps is that as lazy humans, we'll still do what takes the least effort...

So do you scan any barcode, or can you set a specific one that you have to scan? The latter would definitely be more useful. I could use my coffee tin ^_^

I still haven't found anything more useful than AlarmDroid, though. Setting the speaking clock to tell me why I have to get up + having to solve a maths equation is a good way to get my brain to the point where I can comprehend anything other than sleepytimes.
