Chrome: It’s easy to get distracted when you are in your browser. Momentum is a new extension that makes the New Tab of Chrome into a place to inspire you and make you get things done.
Momentum has four essential parts to it. There’s a beautiful photograph used as a background image, along with an inspirational quote to get you going. The extension also offers additional information like the weather of the city you’re in, the time, and a personal greeting. Finally, there’s a to-do list built into the app, where you can add tasks and cross them off when done.
If you want to go back to the default New Tab page, click ‘Apps’ in the top-left corner.

Fairly pointless, just a nice pic.
It would be better if it included mail, search, quick apps etc, otherwise it is yet another level to have to go through to get any work done.
It’s a motivation tool, not a productivity tool – which I will agree are dubiously useful, but it’s basically a ‘luxury’ item… How happy something like this makes the person using it would seem to be the main factor 😛
The fact they have integrated a to do list hints at productivity, even if it is to focus on one task. Really it wouldn’t be that hard to integrate a suite of other tools that don’t need to be ‘in your face’ but would make the interface a lot better.
There is a new extension called Aurora Bookmark Manager…even better than original Momentum: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/aurora-new-tab-bookmark-m/mjmipbogglnbgcabealdgbfdkpochcjg
