This DIY Wall-Mounted Charging Station Keeps Your Gadgets Juiced Up

Having gadgets and devices all over the house connected to various outlets is no fun, which is why we’re always keen to highlight designs for charging stations. This IKEA-based design one is affordable, mounts to your wall, and keeps everything out of the way while charging.

This project uses a $20 set of IKEA Forhoja boxes, a small strip of wood to glue them all onto, and some nails to mount the whole thing to the wall. The smaller boxes go on either side of the larger one, they all get attached to the mounting strip, which is then mounted to the wall, boxes and all.

The two boxes on either side have their own mini-partitions, perfect for smartphones to fit into while they charge (and can be removed for larger items) and the large box in the centre is wide enough on top for other phones and tablets. Inside the large box is enough room for a power board and some coiled-up cable.

Nina, who built this charging station and submitted it to IKEA Hackers, drilled some holes in the top for the cables to feed through, and to offer some ventilation in case the power bricks get a little warm. The end product looks great, and you can see more photos at the link below.
