If, like us, you are fan of golden, garlicky sauce, but haven’t found one from the supermarket you really love — do not despair. We have an amazing recipe for you and having a recipe means you can whip up your own whenever you want.

Almost every recipe I found online was butter based, so already we are on the wrong path. Would butter probably make a technically more delicious sauce? Yes, but we are not striving for culinary excellence. Margarine — “buttery sticks” if you’re discerning — is the key here, along with much more garlic powder than you think you’ll need and some MSG to keep you coming back.
Now, you probably won’t have much luck getting MSG straight from your local supermarket, but it’s easy enough to track down in most Asian grocery stores.
Anyway, to make your very own garlic dipping sauce, you will need:
- 1/2 teaspoon MSG
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1 “buttery stick”
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Add the MSG to the boiling water and stir until it is completely dissolved. In a separate microwave-safe container, melt the buttery stick. Add one tablespoon of the MSG water to the butter, along with the remaining ingredients and hit it with an immersion blender to emulsify it.
