Android: One of the most exciting things to come out of Google I/O 2014 was Android L. We’ve already seen how to install the developer preview on a Nexus 5 or 7, but you can also install the core apps on other devices.
XDA Forum member ivan123 has a full Android L system dump including key apps, the built-in keyboard, wallpapers, ringtones and more. You can download everything as a single file, or pick and choose what you’re interested in. There’s a new Google Maps, Gmail, News & Weather and calculator to name but four.
To try out the apps, you just need to configure your device so that you can install third-party apps — head to the Security section of Settings and tick the Unknown sources box. You can then install the apps one at a time. There is no guarantee that every app will work with every phone and tablet, but it’s worth a try if you want to see the latest versions with a new handset. It’s worth reading through the thread to see what luck other people have with different handsets, but things went well on a Samsung Galaxy S4 for me.
Of course, you can also take things further and install the Android L boot animation and fonts, but that requires a rather more involved flashing process. Check out the link below for everything you need.
