This Thursday (28 November), Dick Smith is throwing a ‘Friends & Family’ sale across its stores with savings of up to 50 per cent on select laptops, Apple devices, smart phones, home theatre products, gaming equipment, headphones and video games. Here are a few interesting deals that caught our eye.
20% off Macbook Air: Dick Smith is selling the 11.6in Macbook Air with 4GB RAM an 128GB SSD and XA1146 processor for $899; a saving of $200. You can also get the 14-inch model powered by a XA1148 CPU for $999 (RRP: $1249).
Dick Smith is also selling the iMac 21.5″ Entry for $1299 and iMac 27″ Entry for $1799, a saving of $300 and $400 respectively. It’s worth noting that these are NOT retina display models, but it remains a pretty good deal regardless.
$50 Off iPads:The deal applies to the iPad Mini 16GB Wi-Fi and iPad 2 16GB Wi-Fi which will sell for $296 and $378, respectively.
Nexus 7 for $288: This isn’t a bad price for Asus’ 2nd generation Android tablet — it works out at around $50 off the RRP.
$70 off SEAGATE Central shared 4TB Hard Drive This HDD allows you to wirelessly stream your centralised media library to gaming consoles, media players and smart TVs. It costs $279, which isn’t too shabby for 4TB of storage.
Telstra Frontier 4G for $89 (pre-paid): If you need a dirt-cheap Android handset, this Telstra offering is pretty hard to beat. It originally retailed for $299.
25% Off HP Pavilion 23in All-In-One The HP Pavilion 23-a005a W8 comes with a 3.4GHz AMD A4-5300 APU, 4GB RAM and a 500GB HDD for $674.
To be eligible for the deal, you’ll need to print off the brochure and present it at the counter during purchase. You can get the PDF here. We’ve replicated it below so you can check out the full range of deals yourself:

I think you mean 13-inch?
And, do retina model Macbook Airs exist? I didn’t think they did, that would be a total game changer.
EDIT: Apple website confirms no such thing as a macbook air with retina display.
That was in reference to the Macbook Pro deal, sentence order was mixed up. Apologies for the confusion, it has now been fixed.
how about that 12.1″ imac
Not to nitpick but there’s a typo right at the end: broucher should be brochure
Ummm. The broucher says it’s 25% off, save $125??!!
Do you have to like them on facebook to enter a contest to go there in person to find out if you’re allowed to get the discount?
The Apple section of the article is muddled up. iMac 12.5″ and Macbook Air 14″
Should be 21.5″ iMac and 13″ MacBook Air.
I can’t believe how pricey the iPad 2 is.
Meh…

I went into a couple of Dick Smiths today and both were very quiet. I don’t think a lot of people know about this. I picked up a Nexus 7 for the special price and they gave me a $50 gift card as well!
Seem legit.
