A slippery cutting board is a recipe for disaster. If you’d like to keep your fingers intact, there’s a really easy way to stabilise it.
For this method, all you need is a tea towel. Just run it under the sink, wring out as much water as you can, and lay it out underneath the cutting board. The added friction will keep it steady.
We’ve covered a few other methods to do this, but they each require a tool that you might not have handy, at least not in your kitchen.
You can also use dry paper towels, but they’re not quite as effective. For a few more tips to stay safe while dicing, check out the source link.

Pro tip: It doesn’t have to be wet if you have a good (heavy) chopping board.
Note: The board shown appears to be plastic. I’ve read elsewhere that they harbour bacteria. It seems a wooden board contains it’s own anti-biotic which is released as you cut into it. I imagine different woods would have different anti-biotic qualities and or quantities. Also, potentially the most germ-laden place in your kitchen is the tea-towel so that’s Strike Two. And that knife looks pretty dangerous. Strike Three! This has been a community service announcement.
