If you’re a cat owner you know how stinky litter boxes can get. Turns out the odour-fighting power of bicarbonate of soda can help you out there too.

Even the best cat litter can use a little deodorising help sometimes, especially if your cat ate something it shouldn’t have. That’s why Brittney Morgan at Apartment Therapy suggests you add a layer of bicarbonate of soda to the basin of your cat’s litter box before you add the litter. When your cat goes to bury its treasure, it will scoop up some of the bicarbonate of soda to cover up the stink. Best of all, bicarbonate of soda won’t bother your cat at all. You can get some extra punch with dried tea leaves too.
