Potluck Delivers Bite-Sized News To Discuss With Friends

iOS: Instead of making you search for and share the latest news, Potluck wants to make news consumption easier. Its team of editors scours the web for what’s happening, picks out the most important aspects and puts it into a bite-sized news piece for you and your friends to talk about. It’s a bit like Circa, only with a social angle.

The app has a cool design where each news item is a little card, which Potluck calls ‘snacks’, with a large image and a headline. Choose to skip it, keep it (adding it to a reading list) or view it. The view has three panes you can swipe through, each with a little more information about the news item, followed by the original article. You can also comment on the snack, which your friends can see and start a conversation about it.

It’s a neat idea, although the comment system doesn’t seems a little forced and instrusive. Still, the cool interface and the compression of news make it worth checking out.
