iOS: Contact management service Xobni launched its downloadable tool, Smartr, for Android and Gmail in September. Now an iPhone version of the same tool is available, letting iPhone users synchronise with Xobni, download contact information from their social networks, and easily search contacts based on any snippet of data they have about them.
Smartr for iPhone includes all of the features that Android and Gmail users get. Contacts are arranged by importance and recent use, so you always see the people you contact often at the top of the list, instead of alphabetically. Once Smartr scans your contacts and connects to your social networks, it builds a complete profile of each person in your contact list, including their phone number, email addresses, links to their social network profiles on Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn, and common contacts you both have on those networks. The app will even display your recent history with that contact, like emails and text messages the two of you have recently exchanged.
In order to use Smartr, you’ll need a Xobni account, which you can sign up for on its site. The account and the app are both free, but if you want to link your Xobni account on the desktop (or on a BlackBerry) with Smartr for iPhone, Android, or Gmail, you’ll need a Xobni Pro account, and that will set you back $US7.99/month. Even without the pro account, Smartr for iPhone can transform your contacts list into something much more useful.
