Protect Your Ties At Home Or On The Road

Reader Greg wrote in with a great way to store your ties without damaging them, whether you keep them in a drawer at home or you’re putting them into a suitcase for a trip. The only things you need are an old toilet paper roll and a plastic sandwich bag.

Greg’s idea is reminiscent of the tie display cases you’ll see at formalwear and clothing stores. Just drape the tie around the cardboard roll, put the package into the bag and put it in a drawer to store it without hanging it in the closet where it’ll get wrinkled, form a crease, or get stuck between a bunch of other clothes.

If you’re packing for a trip, just pick up the whole bag and put it in your suitcase — the tie is protected from spills and it won’t rub against the pair of jeans you have in the same bag. If you prize your ties, this could be a great way to store or travel with them without worrying they’ll be ruined.

Too much hassle, or a great way to keep your expensive ties safe and sound? Do you have a better tie storage option? Let’s hear it in the comments below.

Thanks to Greg for sending in the tip!
