Make A Free Kitchen Air Freshener

Take advantage of your oven and make your kitchen smell wonderful by baking apple cores, banana peels or other fruit discards at a low temperature.

Green living blog Re-Nest suggests mixing ground spice with your fruit to make the house smell like a fresh pie. You’ll need something to hold your fruit peels in that’s safe to heat; fold aluminium foil or baking paper into a basic container as shown in the photo above. Add your fruit discards and sprinkle with a pinch of a spice. Then spray the fruit and spice with an oil spray to keep it from burning. Put that in your oven at 90°C for however long you wish.

The fruit scent will stick around for nearly two hours after you turn the oven off and you really don’t want to open the oven door before those two hours have gone by or you will risk getting smoke in your kitchen.
