Most people identify as either a chocolate dessert person or a fruit dessert person. I’m firmly in the second category, but more specifically, I’m a Lemon Dessert Person: give me a dessert lemony enough to pucker my lips and contort my face, or give me nothing at all.
I grew up in a family of ice cream enthusiasts. My dad has always been a staunch supporter of Ben & Jerry’s, and a veritable super fan of Chubby Hubby — you know, the one with peanut butter and, more importantly, salty pretzels.
Rich, nutty caramel doesn’t exactly scream “summer” but, when made with watermelon juice, the sticky sweet sauce makes for a fruity, ripe and bright tasting dessert topping.
