A “vide poche” (French for “empty pockets”) is something many of you may already have in your homes — it’s essentially an empty bowl or container near the door that you empty your pockets in when you get into the house, or a place you stash your keys, spare change, earbuds and all of your other odds and ends in one place so you can find them quickly on the way back out.
Make no mistake; we’re essentially talking about putting an empty bowl next to your door to collect your junk on the way in the house. It doesn’t sound like much of a hack, but if you’re not doing something similar now, think about all of the places around your house you would otherwise have to visit to collect the items you need before you walk out the door. By collecting that stuff in one place, you only have one place to go to get it, and it’s a location you pass on your way out. Less clutter around your house, and no stress over misplaced keys, phones, headphones or other items you forgot in the kitchen.
