It’s official: prices for solid states drives are bonkers — in a good way. Especially if you can get one at a discount. Take this eBay deal for a 2.5″ 500GB Samsung 850 EVO. Normally $400 (the RRP anyway), it can be yours for the scrumptious figure of $188 delivered.
The deal, spotted by OzBargain user “perox”, is being offered by Shopping Express’ eBay storefront. Currently it’s on sale for $235, but if you use one of the following coupons, you’ll get another 20 per cent off.
PCTECH
(valid until January 22)
PRAWNS
(valid until January 28)
While it’s not the fastest drive, it’s a pretty darn quick for the price. Definitely a nice upgrade for an older notebook, or a PC that’s still chugging away with a HDD for a primary disk.

Not sure I’d be willing to buy from these guys;

Or you know, just buy them from a computer shop where they’re been about $210 for ages.
Currently 850EVO 500GB is listed at Umart for $204. Listing a retail price as $400 when no one is selling it at that is basically lying to customers.
Hell even Kogan are listing them for $209 though you’ve gotta pay delivery at the moment. Though if you keep an eye on them they have specials too, I picked up two 850EVO 500GB from them at $190 each (free shipping) almost 2 years ago.
And at the moment they have a nice deal on the 1TB version – $379 (+ shipping)
