Elon Musk Puts A ‘Money Back Guarantee’ On Fixing South Australia’s Energy Woes

Tesla’s vice-president for energy products, Lyndon Rive, yesterday announced that Tesla would be capable of fixing South Australia’s electricity problems “within 100 days” if asked.

Today, Elon Musk himself has taken to twitter to put a money-back guarantee on the promise.

As pointed out by AFR, Rive only yesterday said that 100-300 megawatt hours of batteries were needed to stop the blackouts South Australia has been having to deal with.

“We don’t have 300MWh sitting there ready to go but I’ll make sure there are,” Rive said, pointing to increased production at the company’s Gigafactory in Nevada.

South Australia isn’t the only state on Tesla’s radar, with the Victoria also gaining attention as a potential battery storage location to counteract the impact of the state’s upcoming Hazelwood coal plant closure.
