As Caylin Harris explains at The Kitchn, items personalised with Sharpie or paint pens may not last forever if the items aren’t properly taken care of. But with etching cream, you can make a permanent mark on items in any design you like. Just stick a stencil to the item you want to personalise, apply the etching cream and let it sit for a few minutes as instructed. When you remove the cream, your design will literally be carved into the item so it won’t ever wash away. You can find bottles of etching cream for around $20 to $30 online or in craft supply stores.
