Your need for something like this depends on how often you use battery-powered gadgets — most things have built-in rechargeable batteries these days — but the purpose of this project is twofold: not only does it organise your batteries, but it's a great woodworking project for beginners that want to feel like they actually made something useful. In fact, even if you don't use a lot of batteries, you could probably adapt this for all kinds of things.
