In A Way, Those Steam Sales Are Still Going

If you missed out on the recent round of Steam sales, the Humble Store is returning fire with a massive sale of its own. And despite what we know about economies of scale, many of these deals are even better.

If you’re looking for deals on digital games in the holiday period, you’re not exactly starved. There are great bargains going over at GOG.com, and after finishing a recent round of Steam sales (as foretold by a Paypal email), it looks like Valve are gearing up for another round of sales from December 18th to January 2nd (as foretold by another Paypal email).

But we’re in a window of no Steam sales right at this very moment, which makes the current sale over at the Humble Store that much more appealing. You probably know the store better by the Humble Bundle name. They’re the group giving a portion of every sale to charity, and at the moment, their prices are managing to be lower than Steam’s.

In fact, many of its prices are lower than Steam’s were during its own sale. Couple that with the fact that you get Steam codes anyway (or a DRM-free download, if you prefer), and it’s like having your Portal-inspired cake and eating it too.

The selection is a tad different, but that can be a good thing, as we’ve seen a lot of the same games pop up in the Steam sales. It looks like the sale goes up until about Christmas Eve. Lower prices, money to charity, Steam codes and DRM-free downloads? That’s a tough act to follow. Your move, Steam.
