Depending on your local recycling center, you can’t toss your toothbrush into the recycling bin. Well you can, but you’ll just be adding trash for the workers to pick out. And you shouldn’t throw your toothpaste tube in the bin either. But you can mail them to a specialised recycling center for free, with a program from Colgate and TerraCycle.

Plastic devotees, rejoice! Everyone else, be bewildered at the people for whom the idea of bringing a reusable bag is just too hard a concept to grasp. Coles has decided to continue giving out its 15c plastic 'Better Bags' for free indefinitely, as people are apparently still struggling with the idea of a plastic-free life.

I love buttermilk in baked goods, but most recipes only call for a 1/4 cup or so, and the remaining portion of bottle usually languishes in the fridge until its expiration date. But all of that is about to change, because I am now aware of the magic known as powdered buttermilk.
