Trying to find some new music? Upbeat charts new and interesting music from around the web, and gives you a forum to up or down-vote songs you like or dislike, discuss them with other listeners, and post your own new-found gems to share.
The service is a lot like Hacker News, but for music. All of the songs posted are there because someone wanted to share them, and you can play them right in your browser (or even on mobile devices). If you like it, upvote it. If you don’t, leave it alone or downvote it. You can discuss the track or the artist in the comments or click to buy the track at Amazon (though that’s obviously not much help for Australian listeners).
If you have a song you want to share, just click “submit song” to paste in a link. You earn karma points when your submitted tracks are upvoted. It’s also a great way to find and share underrated artists or non-mainstream bands that wouldn’t otherwise get exposure.
It’s completely free, and mobile apps are on their way from the team behind it (the same people who brought youNoon Pacific, if you’re wondering). Hit the link below to give it a try.
