Pack ‘Outfit Rolls’ For A Smoother Family Holiday

Rolling clothes is one of the best ways to pack for a holiday, and if you have kids, it is also a great way to pack entire outfits so getting ready each day goes more quickly. Here’s what we mean.

When packing your kid’s bag, bundle together different outfits so that during the trip, you can just pull a roll out and have them get dressed immediately rather than spending time figuring out what each kid should wear. Teach older kids how to pack in this way so they can put together their own bag. Lay bottoms out first, then a shirt, followed by smaller undergarments like socks and underwear. Make sure the edge of each item is lined up on one side and roll the bundle tightly from that side. Rubber band a piece of paper with a brief description of what’s in the bundle so you know what to pick based on that day’s weather and activities (like a roll with a long sleeve shirt and pants for a cooler day).

Make getting ready go even faster by also having your kid put their jacket and shoes in the same spot in the hotel room. Of course, delays happen with kids, but by having their outfits ready to go in rolls, you can make things go a little faster before heading out the door for that day’s adventures.
