Two Tricks For Hammering A Nail Without Marring The Wood

When driving a nail into a soft wood like cedar, there’s a good chance you’ll mar the wood with your hammer if you miss. Prevent these “hammer kisses” with these helpful attachments.

First, take a thin strip of wood (about 1/8″ thick) and cut a small notch in it. This scrap will protect the finish of your wood project during your initial strikes.

Finish driving the nail using a nail set, which will ensure the nail is seated properly and your surface is protected.
