Optus Adds A Bunch Of International Calls And Texts To Its Postpaid Plans

If you have a lot of friends and family overseas, this might be tempting: Optus has beefed up its postpaid/contract My Plan Plus plans to include a reasonably generous helping of overseas texting and calling credit.

Across the My Plan Plus range, unlimited texts and MMS messages are now offered in 32 countries. Each plan also includes a set number of minutes for calls to numbers in those countries: 50 minutes for the $60 plan, 150 minutes on the $80 plan and 300 minutes for the $100 plan.

These are the countries covered (Optus says these are the most commonly called countries for its customers):

The deal is being offered from now until 31 May 2015; existing My Plan Plus customers can switch plans to access it (though Optus is likely to extend your contract if you do.) We still tend to recommend going prepaid for the cheapest phone deal, but if you’re constantly texting overseas, this could be useful.
