Build A DIY Wide, Adjustable Height IKEA Standing Desk On The Cheap

If you’ve been convinced to switch to a standing desk, you might have been deterred by the cost and small size of many common options. Fortunately, as usual, IKEA comes to the rescue with a cheap, simple alternative.

What You’ll Need

  • 5x Vika Byske Legs
  • 2x packs of Capita Brackets
  • Vika Amon Table Top
  • Optional: Franklin 29′ Barstool (for when you’d rather sit)

We’ve previously posted how you can use an IKEA kitchen table as a standing desk, but if you visit the post you’ll see it’s 1) a little cramped and 2) not a desk. IKEA Hackers posted this very simple solution, which simple involves pairing a set of legs with a desk top that weren’t necessarily meant for each other. The result? An inexpensive standing desk with adjustable height. If you’re looking for a cheap standing desk but not yet ready to commit, this is a great option. If you decide it’s not for you, you can just adjust the legs to bring the desk down to a normal level instead.
