The Stranger Things 2 Soundtrack Is Good Work Music

Stranger Things

For a horror soundtrack, Stranger Things 2 feels very... productive. The rhythmic synths don't evoke a Lovecraftian monster so much as a gently churning supercomputer. This makes for a great soundtrack to your work day. Cue it up on Spotify and get in the zone.

The 71-minute album wavers between bouncy and meditative tracks, all synth-based and lyric-free. You might want to skip tracks 10, 15, and 23, which get too menacing — unless you want to scare yourself into hitting a deadline.

Personally I find 80s pop hits to be highly distracting, but if, like my managing editor, you find them motivating, you can play all the 80s songs featured in the new season:

My other favourite cinematic soundtracks for the workday are Beasts of the Southern Wild, Philip Glass's Powaqqatsi, and Mark Mothersbaugh's work on any Wes Anderson film. What are yours?
