I recently went into a coffee shop to get a hot chocolate and, to my surprise, they had something called a “Hot Vanilla” on the menu. I was sceptical, but I gave it a try and it was one of the best warm drinks I’ve ever tasted. It’s easy enough to make at home, too.

The hot vanilla is exactly what it sounds like and is similar to Starbucks’ Vanilla Creme drink. It’s like a hot chocolate, with the same creamy texture, only it’s vanilla. If you’ve never had it, or you just want to make a batch on your own, try this simple recipe from The Frugal Girls. You boil sugar and water in a pan, then transfer to a crock pot, add milk and vanilla syrup, then cook on high for two hours. From there, you can top individual servings with whipped cream or cinnamon if you like. It’s a simple enough recipe that works well for holiday gatherings.
