This Classic Cartoon Teaches You How To Properly Use Hand Tools

What’s the best way to learn how to use tools? Cartoons, of course! This cartoon from 1945 teaches the best ways to handle common hand tools still in use today.

The cartoon, produced by Disney for GM, introduces you to the caveman character Primitive Pete, who shows you throughout the cartoon what not to do with certain tools. It also demonstrates some things you may not know, like how to properly strip a wire and loop it, or how to use a crescent spanner efficiently by flipping it. If you’re an advanced craftsman or tinkerer, it may not be for you, but if you’re looking for a primer on basic hand tools and how to use them, this is a silly but surprisingly informative video.
