Julienne Fruits And Vegetables A Lot Faster With A Mandoline

Video: Julienne cut fruits and vegetables are perfect toppings for salads, but you don’t need expert knife skills to do it. A mandoline slicer can do most of the work for you, even if you don’t have a special attachment.

In this video from the ChefSteps YouTube channel, chef Grant Crilly demonstrates a nifty trick for quickly cutting all your produce julienne. Just slice up your fruit or vegetable with a mandoline slicer, stack the slices on top of each other, and use your knife to cut them into thin matchsticks. Some mandoline slicers come with a julienne blade attachment, but if you don’t have one, the mandoline still makes the process a lot faster. This method also gives you a bit more control over the shape and thickness of the matchsticks anyway, so give it a shot.
