I don't know if it's a Southern thing, or a specific-to-my-grandmother thing, but I grew up eating a lot of melon for dessert, and it always, always, always was served with a sprinkling of salt.

The beautiful thing about watermelon is that it's perfectly refreshing on its own, but there's a lot you can do to make it even better. Case in point: Watermelon pizza. No cheese or pepperoni -- just some sweet summer fruit.
