Whether you stocked up at a sale or bought time on a looming best-by date, you very likely have some ground beef in your freezer. It seems so useful, like such a good starting point for so many recipes, but when have you ever remembered to defrost frozen ground beef in advance? Then you've got to brown it or cook it through before it goes into your pasta dish, casserole or taco shell. It's not such a time-saver after all.

Predicting the future is near impossible -- but that doesn‘t stop us all from having a red hot go. Human beings have been predicting the future since the beginning of history and the results range from the hilarious to the downright uncanny.

One thing all future predictions have in common: they‘re rooted in our current understanding of how the world works. It‘s difficult to escape that mindset. We have no idea how technology will evolve, so our ideas are connected to the technology of today.
