Android: With its latest redesign, Google Fit no longer makes a big deal about your steps for the day (although the number is still there, in fine print). Instead, you’re supposed to be tracking your Move Minutes and the mysterious Heart Points.

More exercise is better than less, but beyond that, there’s nothing special about taking 10,000 steps each day.
That goal may have started with a popular Japanese pedometer of the 1960s named manpo-kei, the “10,000-step meter.” It was just a catchy name, but it stuck because it’s a good goal for at least some of us. 10,000 steps is roughly five miles — challenging but not impossible to fit into a busy day.
Google Fit continues its progress from its humble step-counter beginnings with a major update. It now shows you much more detail about your workouts, and presents the data it gathers in a more useful way.
Back in August, Google released the preview version of its Google Fit software development kit (SDK). Now the SDK has gone into general release -- which means we should see a glut of Google Fit-enabled apps shortly.
