When you own a great pair of shoes, you want to show them off. But the more you wear them, of course, the worse they look ” beat up and marred by unsightly creases. Which is why you need to know this trick.
This week Twitter user @shanteldebonsu posted her tips of removing those annoying creases you get on the tops of your shoes.
The hack works for shoes made of all leather. You’ll need:
-
hot water
-
an iron
-
a small towel or cloth
-
some socks, old clothes, or tissue paper to stuff inside your shoes
First, stuff your shoes full of the socks/old clothes/tissue paper “to the point where you can’t see the crease anymore and when you press on the top of the shoe it doesn’t move.”
Next, wet your small towel with hot water and squeeze that water out so the towel is just damp. Place the towel on top of the shoe, and then iron the creased area through the towel.
It’s easy to burn your shoe doing this, which definitely defeats the whole purpose of the endeavour. To prevent that, pick the iron up continuously and lift the towel up some to check on your progress.
If that was confusing, Shantel also posted a YouTube video showing how it’s done:
And from the looks of things on Twitter, it works! A number of people have responded to Shantel’s original post with pictures of their crease-free shoes.
