Sign Up For Your Free Year Of Apple TV+ Right Now

It’s November 1! And you know what that means—if you purchased an Apple product anytime on or after September 10, you earned yourself a free year-long trial to Apple’s streaming service. It won’t just appear magically for you to access, however; you’ll have to activate it first.

And that’s not the only caveat with the launch of Apple TV+. But let’s start with the primary qualifier. To get your free year, you will need to purchase one of the following items (or will need to have purchased one on September 10 or later): a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV or Mac.

Easy enough, right? The free trial, however, is exactly what its name implies. And signing up for it will automatically enroll you in a recurring monthly subscription that will kick off at the end of your year-long freebie subscription unless you cancel. Yes, a number of people will probably be surprised by that charge. Worse, others might not check their credit card statements that closely and find themselves paying for it for longer than they planned.

Now that that’s out of the way, signing up for your free year of Apple TV+ is a pretty easy process. As Apple describes:

• Turn on your new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD, or Mac and sign in with your Apple ID.

• Open the Apple TV app on November 1 or later. Make sure your eligible device is running the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, or macOS.

• The offer should be presented immediately after launching the app. If not, scroll down in Watch Now until the offer appears.

• Tap “Enjoy 1 Year Free.” You might be asked to enter your Apple ID password, confirm your billing information, or add a valid payment method. You will not be charged during the 1 year free trial.

Don’t dawdle setting up your free year of Apple TV+, however. Apple notes that its offer is only available for a “limited time.” More importantly, the offer can expire. If you set up your device prior to November 1, you have three months from today to activate the year-long free trial; if you wait until after today to set up a new device, your three-month countdown starts then.
